Even with the advent of social media and popularity of video content, I still love old-school browsing my favorite blogs on my desktop screen. Saving recipes and getting inspiration for the week ahead is therapeutic! When I stumbled on these cute little flower pretzels from Chelsea’s Messy Apron, I knew I needed to make them with my daughter.
The recipe was a hit! I modified it a little bit to use wafer cookies instead of pretzels, but either would be yummy.
If you try this recipe with kids, I suggest that an adult move the cookies off the hot baking tray (use a spatula) and onto a cool tray so kids can add designs without any risk of burns on small fingers.
Kids can also help place the candy melts before the tray hits the oven and they can sort the M&Ms. It’s a fun family project!

Ingredients in These Flower Cookies
A few notes on some of the ingredients used in the cookies:
Vanilla Wafer Cookies – Use round vanilla wafer cookies (such as Nilla Wafers), found in the snack/cookie aisle. If you prefer to use a homemade cookie, I would suggest using the sugar cookie base from my Iced Heart Cookies and simply cut them into small circles before baking. Bake cookies completely before adding and melting the candy melts on top.
White Candy Melts – Use the small disk-type melts. My bag was from Aldi!
M&Ms – A regular size 10 ounce bag of M&Ms is enough for one recipe (35 cookies) of these cookies.

Can I Use Almond Bark Instead of Candy Melts?
Using almond bark instead of the circular candy melts will be a little trickier. You’ll want to melt a few squares of bark until smooth and completely melted and then you’ll have to spread a circle on each cookie and quickly press in the M&Ms. If you are willing to add an extra step, I think it could be fine! Note: I did not test almond bark with this recipe, these are just suggestions!

3-Ingredient Flower Cookies
Ingredients
- 35 vanilla wafer cookies
- 35 white candy melts
- 1 10-ounce bag M&Ms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Sort M&Ms into piles of each color so they are easy to grab.
- Arrange 10-20 vanilla wafer cookies on the baking sheet. Place one single candy melt on each cookie.
- Place tray in oven to melt chocolate—about 3-4 minutes. The melts will be intact, but completely melted. Be sure the centers are melted otherwise it’ll be challenging to get the middle M&M on there.
- Remove tray from oven and place M&Ms in the shape of flowers. Start with the center and add the petals after. Let cool on a cooling rack. Repeat until all cookies have been made.
